Grindhouse – 2007????? (Written in English 29/06/2007)

 Ah! Can someone, Nu Metro or Ster Kinekor or Sol Kersner, please buy Grindhouse and release it in   South Africa some time soon! I have to see Rose McGowan sporting a machine gun for a leg after the  zombies chewed off the original limb! There is no release info on the film available in South Africa and it is already available on Amazon. I refuse to buy it though because I want to see Rose cocking and loading that leg on the big screen…..

Who is Rose, you might ask. Two things come to mind. One, she dated that peculiar fellow, Marilyn Manson, and rocked up at an award ceremony almost buck naked. (Google the pics). Two, she played Paige in the last few seasons on Charmed. We shall forgive her for that.

What is Grindhouse, you might ask. It is a Robert Rodriguez (director of Sin City) film and a Quinton Tarantino film shown back to back with a few imaginary trailers (Werewolf women of the SS…) thrown in. Quinton’s movie, Deathproof deals with Stunt Man Mike (played by a perfectly cast Kurt Russell) who picks up chicks, gives them a ride and kills them by crashing the car. Only his side of the car is Deathproof as it turns out. Planet Terror deals with zombies who take over the planet. It is that simple.

Horror is not my genre. The closest I got to watching a zombie film was Shaun of the Dead and I only rented it because Hot Fuss, with the same director and lead actors, was THAT funny. I guess I will be lowering my standards then for Rose, Rosario Dawson, Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas and a few others……

PS (05/06/2009): I gave up and sent my cousin to buy it in Singapore….

PS (12/07/2007): My cousin couldn’t find it and according to an email form Nu Metro dated 10/07/2007 the movie was released and is off circuit. Hmmm, not.
