In my experience very few family units survive a severely disabled child/sibling. Parents face dreadful decision, they face it alone and they end up blaming themselves or each other for the child or the decisions. Siblings feel neglected, rightfully or not. They are mostly overwhelmed by the enormity of it all. They certainly learn very early on that life does go horribly wrong.
Family Affair Vol II is a monument to my disabled brother, and to my family that certainly did not survive him.
